Step Seven: Building the Fireplace in the Studio.

Putting a foundatin in the floor inside the Studio, behind the oven.

Cutting and putting together the bricks for
the shell of a Rumford fireplace.

A form to set the bricks for the flue of the Rumford.

Laying the bricks for the flue.

In a Rumford style fireplace, the logs are placed upright,
to get the maximum radiation heat. The flue is specifically
shaped to draw the air strongly from this shallow fireplace.

Installing a Damper mechanism, which will be enclosed in concrete.

Building up the rest of the foundation.

Laying the hearth.

Next is building the arch around the fireplace, to put the
marble mantle on top of.

-

Finally, the tiling of the whole fireplace and the building of the mantel.

The decorative edges of the fireplace are created with draining tiles,
cut in half.

And it's completed!
(Almost, all that is left are two slate plates for the top of the fireplace.)
