Step Three: Designing and Building the Brick Oven.

Brick ovens have been built as far back as the Ancient Romans, but Munro wasn't satisfied with the method used to construct the domes.
So made a design based on the Geodesic dome (like on volleyballs), made up of triangles forming Hexagons and Pentagons.

This map shows the different shape triangles needed.

To make them out of brick, first the top of the triangles needed
to be cut, then adhered to full bricks, to cut the bottom half.

.

Here is the result of the cutting and fitting of the bricks.

After laying the fire-brick floor of the oven
(on top of the insulated, concrete slab)......

.....the brick groups are mortared together to form the dome.

A wooden form helps support the bricks as they are laid.

The dome is completed.

Wings are formed at the opening of the oven.

Insulation is molded around the dome, to keep the heat in.

Finishing up the first (as far as we know)
Geodesic Domed Brick Oven, in the world!
