Act I
Belle takes a trip into town, and has a confrontation with Gaston and Lefou.
Belle's papa, Maurice, arrives with his "invention".
Maurice gets lost in the woods and ends
up in the Enchanted Castle of the Beast.
Gaston proposes to Belle, who is appalled!
Belle finds her father locked in a cell in the Beast's castle.
Belle chooses to stay "forever" with the Beast, if he'll let Maurice go.
Belle encounters some of the Enchanted Characters in the castle,
Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip, Babette and Madame de la Grande Bouche.
Gaston, Lefou and the townsfolk cavort
in the tavern, praising Gaston's physical prowess.
Maurice comes to the tavern for help to rescue Belle, but is laughed at and carted away.
Lumiere and the Enchanted Characters welcome Belle
to "Be Our Guest".
The Beast strikes Belle (accidentally) and she leaves the castle.
Then the Beast realizes that now the spell is never going to be broken.
