Southern California, 2013

(The week in San Diego)

The second half of our trip was primarily to visit San Diego
and our friends Peter and Mel.

From LA’s deco Union Station,
we took a train down to San Diego

with beautiful views of the ocean on the way.

Including the wondrous Balboa Park

And the gardens

We visited the La Jolla Aquarium

Lunch in beautiful La Jolla

Peter accompanied us to a thrilling new, rock musical, “The Last Goodbye”,

based on “Romeo and Juliet”, at the Old Globe Theatre

Of course we visited the famed

San Diego Zoo

After an long bus ride across this bridge to Coronado (with a crazy vet)

we wandered around the beautiful hotel.  We took the ferry back.

Disappointed Munro discovers the clock hums instead of ticking.

Dinner in Hillcrest, the gay area of San Diego

Santa Fe rail station, where the trolley originates.

We moved to a hotel in Old Town

(not this beautiful old one)

We saw “Importance …  Earnest”, which was playing in
repertory with “Travesties”

Thank you, Peter, for making our stay in San Diego so pleasant.
