Tayrona National Park

(a jungle walk to the beach)

In Santa Marta (which reminded me of “Old-Time Havana”) this iguana farm gave us hopes

of the wild life we’d see in our forthcoming jungle walk.

A 45 minute ride to the Park, in an un-air-conditioned van.

The beginning of our 2 hour walk through the sweltering jungle.

The path was shared by donkeys and horses.

A welcome rest along the way.

These “leaf cutting ants” were the ONLY wild life we encountered in the jungle.

An Oasis at the end of the jungle.  A look at the Andes and a restaurant on the beach.

Since swimming was too dangerous at this beautiful beach, some of our group marched on

for half hour to another, swimmable beach.

I stayed at the Oasis and had lunch, and watch the scenery.

After taking some photos of ‘wild life’,

Jonathan joined me.

When the others returned to the first beach,

we walked back to our van, through the jungle.
