Jaen and Bailen

Because our friend Michele had been to Jaen, we decided to visit the city to see what it was like.

Primarily we found two very interesting museums.

But first we had lunch on the mountain in the center at the Parador, with a gorgeous view.

Two original Kean paintings

Then we found a museum of the Roman Baths.

Upstairs was a not very good Art museum,

But downstairs was an amazingly preserved ruins of the Baths with ancient artifacts.

(sadly there was little light, so few good pics)

A lion eating a Christian???

Some of the worst ‘primitive” art ever….

Because we cancelled the Carceres Parador, we needed an inexpensive place to stay before going to Avila.

We chose a dreadful, smelly motel in Bailen.

At least there was a “medieval” town fair that night.

Hilariously awful!

Ending with the silliest monument in all of Spain.

(those are artificial birds on top)
