Madrid

After moving into our loft apartment and getting a night’s sleep, we took a bus over to

The Garcia apartment to meet with Greg and Maria, and her mother.

Then Greg took us for a walk through the beautiful Retiro Parq.

Followed by our first Spanish Almuerzo at La Hoja.

One of the things that impressed us most about Madrid were the fabulous
Holiday lights all over the city.

Madrid is a modern, exciting city so wandering the streets led to many sights.

There was a guy in that, but I thought it was a statue.

(note the Xmas balls)

We were fortunate to be in Madrid for New Year’s Eve and Day,

and to have the hospitality of Greg Kaczorowski and the Garcia Family for both.

Plaza Sol, around the corner from our apartment, was their “Times Square” on New Year’s Eve.

The tradition at midnight is to eat 12 grapes,
one with each gong.

We visited two great museums in Madrid, the Prado and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Breugel’sGarden of Earthly Delights

(I wasn’t supposed to take this, but…..)
