In different villages surrounding Oaxaca City, magnificent crafts are produced, each village specializing in one craft. Here in one village, brightly colored animals are the carved and painted, and they were my personal favorite of all the crafts available. To the left, is one of the artists that we visit in her native village. I purchased several items from her workshop.

This fellow I got from one of the art galleries in Oaxaca. The art work is extremely elaborate and detailed. Now, we have a third, beloved cat in our house.

This is the portrait of a famous artist, from the village that specializes in beautiful, black pottery. She developed the special technique of working with clay that the village now uses to create their work.

And of course, we couldn't leave without getting one of the colorful, hand woven rugs, to go along with our Turkish rug.
