Alicante / Murcia / Almeria / Cartagena

Despite the lovely view of the ocean from our hotel window,

there was little to do in Alicante.

We walked all around the mountain at night for a good dinner

and mingled with the locals.

We took a slooooow train to Murcia, to visit Lola and JuanJo Garcia.

A view from the train, with flat desert land and mountains popping up all over.

After a tour of Murcia, they took us to Cartagena, which was delightful and warm.

There were amazing Roman ruins on view in Cartagena, including Roman Baths.

When we got our rental car, we were surprised that they gave us an Automatic Mercedes-Benz!

So our drive to Almeria was very pleasant, where we visited our first “white towns” in the mountains.

There was much to see in Almeria, but the highlight was the Alcazaba.

A long climb, but well worth it.

The town of Almeria had it’s interesting sights, too.

Including a wonderful Archeological Museum.

The centerpiece of the museum was a 4 story column with a great video that changed on the side.

On the left is a painting of the column, with the swimmer moving up to each panel.
