Córdoba

The last major city on our tour and although there wasn’t that much to do,

the main event, The Mezquita (an ancient mosque with a cathedral inside it)
was one of our top highlights of the trip.

First, on the drive to get there was a surprise encounter.

We saw a castle on a hill and in trying to get a good shot of it, we had to go up into a town.

Since we were that high up, we decided to go all the way and were very pleased with what we found.

Córdoba itself had some interesting sights, but not enough to fill the two days we were there.

Our hotel was handsome and our room looked out over one of the
entrances of the Mezquita.

Our night entertainment, which we didn’t have much hope for,
was a Light and Sound show at the Alcazar.
It turned out to be terrific, especially the fountains at the end.

But the main event was breathtaking!

The Mezquta was a huge mosque which the Spanish decided not to destroy to build their cathedral.

Instead they built it inside the mosque, leaving all the beauty of the Islamic art.
